Learn Korean: Korean Alphabet (한글 Hangeul)

The first stages in  learning Korean language is memorize and understand Korean letters or more in the know with hangeul (한글), then followed the way of writing and reading. The following letter  Korean alphabet that we should memorize:

Consonants:

• ㄱ ==> G
• ㄴ ==> N
• ㄷ ==> D
• ㄹ ==> R
• ㅁ ==> M
• ㅂ ==> B
• ㅅ ==> S
• ㅇ ==> NG
• ㅈ ==> A
• ㅊ ==> CH
• ㅋ ==> Q
• ㅌ ==> TH
• ㅍ ==> PH
• ㅎ ==> H
• ㄲ ==> K
• ㄸ ==> T
• ㅃ ==> P
• ㅆ ==> SS
• ㅉ ==> C

Note: For consonants ㄱ, ㄷ, ㅂ, ㅅ, and ㅈ when located at the beginning of a word will be read double (ㄲ, ㄸ, ㅃ, ㅆ, and ㅉ)

Vocal:

• 아 ==> A: Child
• 야 ==> YES: Yes
• 어 ==> Oe: Order, Boy
• 여 ==> Yoe: Yogyakarta
• 오 ==> O: Go
• 요 ==> Yo: careless
• 우 ==> U: For
• 유 ==> YU: Vegetables
• 으 ==> EU: Get lost
• 이 ==> I: Beautiful
• 애 ==> AE: Let
• 얘 ==> YAE
• 에 ==> E: Delicious
• 예 ==> YE
• 외 ==> OI ==> WE (a combination of vocal 오 and 이)
• 와 ==> OA ==> WA (a combination of vocal and 아 오)
• 왜 ==> OAE ==> WAE (a combination of vocal and 애 오)
• 워 ==> UOE ==> WOE (a combination of vocal and 어 우)
• 웨 ==> UE ==> WE (a combination of vocal and 에 우)
• 위 ==> UI ==> WI (a combination of vocal 우 and 이)
• 의 ==> EUI (a combination of vocal 으 and 이)

To make it easier to memorize the Korean alphabet and pegucapannya, let us focus on a single letter in advance, follow the letter of the new at double (combined). In pronouncing the letter double letters are formed based on sound policies that stick in it, for example: 와 ==> oa (wa) we must first know and understand letters and 아 오, create live sound at unity following the sound of them.
